S. Selvarathinam Nadar was a prominent Indian businessman, philanthropist, and politician. He was the founder of the popular retail store chain, S. S. Nadar & Co, which later became the Saravana Stores. He was born on 31st March 1922 in a small village called Pallathur in Tamil Nadu, India.
Nadar started his career as a small shopkeeper, and his business gradually grew into a large enterprise with a turnover of millions of dollars. The success of his business can be attributed to his astute business instincts and marketing strategies.
Apart from his business acumen, Nadar was known for his philanthropic and charitable activities. He was a generous contributor to various social causes and donated a considerable amount of money to educational and religious institutions.
Nadar also had a keen interest in politics and was a member of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly for two terms. He was known for his contributions to the welfare of his constituency and for his efforts to uplift the marginalized sections of society.
Nadar passed away on 5th November 2003 due to a cardiac arrest, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire many entrepreneurs and social activists.
